Duchy Trachtenberg served on the Montgomery County Council from 2006 – 2010. Upon joining the County Council, Ms. Trachtenberg became the leading force in creating the Family Justice Center (FJC) to bring coordinated government services to domestic violence victims.
As a public health professional and effective grassroots activist for more than twenty-five years, Ms.Trachtenberg has had a special interest in women’s health and addiction and mental health treatment services. She has received numerous honors from the National Center for Children and Families, Our Bodies, Ourselves Health Collective, the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, the Mental Health Association and this year’s (American Public Health Association) APHA’s Excellence in Leadership distinction. She currently serves on the Cornerstone Montgomery, National Health Research Center, and FJC Advisory Board of Directors.
Ms. Trachtenberg completed the 2009 Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government at the Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work.
