Ida Ruben is a former Maryland State Senator and served as President Pro Tem for 7 years. She served as the Senate Budget & Tax Committee Chair and also on the Montgomery County Senate Delegation for 19 years. She is also a former House Member and former Chair of House Delegation.
Ms. Ruben has worked tirelessly for decades in the area of domestic violence. She introduced and passed the first piece of Domestic Violence Legislation in the State of Maryland. She has spent the past 35 years involved and active in numerous community organizations.
In 2014, Ms. Ruben received the Forerunner Award at the Montgomery County Family Justice Center Foundation’s 5th Annual Benefit. The award is presented to “an individual who has been instrumental in combating domestic violence and working for the protection of its survivors.”
